Why have one commander captain sisay11/10/2022 ![]() ![]() On Captain Sisay's page on EDHREC there is only 1 card that can untap a creature, ], and while it is a great card, it is just one card. (un)Tap That: This is especially where EDHREC goes wrong. In my Captain Sisay deck I run 0 mana rocks (we will get to that later) and 13 mana dorks that cost 2 mana or less, so that I can consistently get her out on turn 3. Captain Sisay costs 3 less mana than Nezahal, and while getting her out on turn 4 is good, turn 3 is much better. ![]() In the Nezahal deck I posted recently, I ran 15 mana rocks and 7 mana dorks so that I can consistently get him out on turn 3, 4 or 5. You need your value engine to get out ASAP. Get Her Out Immediately: I have stressed this with decks before, and I will continue to stress it. Here's the deck, and here's how you do it: When you have a value engine, maybe even the best value engine commander, you need to abuse the crap out of that engine. Now Noob Jr might think, "Well that's exactly what I am doing! Every turn I get one of my bomb mythics and I slam it down." Noob Jr is still doing it wrong. Being able to search through your deck for the perfect card for the situation. So what's better than drawing consistently? Tutoring consistently. My favorite commander's are the ones that provide consistent value like ], ], and ]. When I saw Sisay's ability I had one thought: Value Engine. It seems like a lot of people see her and think, "Oooh I can go get a spicy legend from my deck, so I am just going to jam my deck with all legends and that's it." So Noob Jr over there spends $400 on their favorite green and white legendary cards, throws them in the deck and calls it a day without any thought at all to synergy. One of my friends gave me a ] as a going away present, so even though she is $19 herself, I built the deck budget around her (total deck is around $44).įirst off, EDHREC is building her 100% wrong. I am going to preface this with this: I am a budget brewer (try to keep my decks $25 or less) and a casual EDH player. ![]()
